Mai Little Little Sister Maid Lessons (
Summary[]
The 20th girl joins the family! Actually, her first appearance was in Chapter 31 (Volume 4). Go on, take a look!
Mai is introduced to the Family confusing everyone as she banters about being Mei's little sister (and Mei continues to say otherwise). Mai states she doesn't acknowledge anyone else in the Family as Mei's friends or family stating they've been using her as a servant too much (while Mei states she chose to do that), making Mai believe that they need to act like maids to appreciate what Mei does for them; immediately inspiring Hahari to have all the girls dress in maid costumes again. After they dress up, Mai tells them that they're 100 years too early to be "Little Sister Maids" like her, so she instructs them to be "Little Little Sister Maids" under her; however she soon retracts it for Mei as well as Hakari and Hahari realizing their desire to serve, telling those three to just spend the day serving Rentarou while she trains the rest.
- Mai's lessons begin with greetings, trying to have them speak their "Master's" return well, only to face with the nerves of Meme and the speaking peculiarities of Yamame.
- Next is the idea of elegant movement to carry oneself with dignity across the estate, only to hear the loudness of Karane's boots and Naddy acting like she's performing for Noh.
- Mai then relays the idea that a maid must always smile for their master, having particular problems with the expressions of Nano and Momiji until the two just use their fingers to make the other smile making Mai relent she'll do all the smiling for them; Mimimi handles it perfectly but is a bit too good at it with Mai telling her to be more modest.
- Next is the carrying of dishware on a tray; Shizuka only does one being too little, Iku way too many and Kusuri just trips. Next is the preparation of tea; Yaku confuses what they're making, Ahko puts a cake on top of it making it too much, and Kurumi drools serving it thinking it's for herself only for her to drink it and get more of Mai's ire.
- Next is an exercise in carpet cleaning; Uto confuses her with her idea that in some perspective, the carpet is already pretty with the new items on it; Kishika condones the master for leaving the mess and believes they should be much cleaner themselves; and Chiyo merely groans at it to blame the carpet for being messy itself.
Karane has enough and throws the broom on the floor leading to Mei to help her. As she sees Mei's look as she helps Karane and the other girls, Mai gives up, claiming that the entire Family is hopeless and she'll never grant her approval of them as she storms off the roof! As she runs away, Mai remembered her own upbringing; how she wanted to be a maid like her grandmother and how she said she'd just get in the way when she was young; but how she first saw Mei when she was twelve as that perfect ideal in her conduct and devotion to Hahari like a perfectly crafted doll, leading to her obsession to be with her and be just like her. But seeing Mei with Rentarou and the Family, Mai is realizing that the gap between the two of them is widening further.
As she sits alone, Mai is approached by Kurumi and Chiyo; Kurumi states Mai needs to give everyone a chance and that they're not bad people as Chiyo agrees with the sentiment. Mai wonders why she should listen to them as they convey their stories, Kurumi joining claiming she wasn't going to get along with them and Chiyo having regret on pushing her values on them as well. Kurumi shows regret about her former actions and believes the Family has made her better while Chiyo believes they don't want the same problems to happen to Mai and ask her about what they need to do in order to be Mei's friends, even if it means being maids. Mai admits she was no better than them when starting as a maid and that the issue isn't their incompetence but hers; she would cause problems and Mei would scold her and she thinks that they're different while thinking that she'll never be anywhere near what Mei is. Chiyo is shocked hearing about Mei scolding her admitting Mei would never do that with any of them while Kurumi adds that she's never done that with them and is potentially keeping her face up with the Family with the possibilities they'll never know Mei truly. Chiyo states she envies Mai if Mei can actually let her guard down in front of her and show her true feelings, which Mai takes pride in as her "little sister". But then she adds that knowing Mei better than anyone, she realizes Mei loves the Family and she can't deny they're all important to her. Kurumi and Chiyo put their hands out to her saying "that includes her now too" and invite her to rejoin them, which she accepts.
As the trio return to the roof, Mai prepares to apologize, only for Mei to start spanking her telling Mai to apologize to the others! The others mostly believe there's nothing for Mai to apologize for...while Iku is just upset that Mei's been holding back her true power!
