Spring Light Show Dates are Most Efficient ( () イルミデートは (さい) (こう) (りつ) に Haru Irumi Dēto wa Saikōritsu ni) is the one hundred and thirteenth chapter of the 100 Kanojo manga.

Summary[]

Kusuri is getting guidance from Momoha about ethics but not understanding what "ethics" really is; Momoha explains it as "behavior one needs to keep to while understanding the metrics of what is right and what's wrong"; as well the complexities of whether something is an ethical decision or not due to there being no right or wrong answers regarding elements, including if what one person believes is right is actually right or permissible in the greater scope of those that the participant is dealing with in society. When Shizuka and Iku praise Momoha for her knowledge of ethics and how she lives her life, she immediately shuts the conversation down stating that no one should live their lives like her. Nano thinks it's more important to have knowledge of "government and economics" over taking Momoha's ethics class, while Mei states her beliefs are whatever Hahari claims is important , which is pointed out as closer to "theology" than "ethics".

Changing the subject, Rentarou reveals a light show event; and due to schedules, Momoha, Nano and Mei end up being the ones who come with him. Upon arriving, the trio discover there are 151 displays at the show and the impossibility to see them all; however Nano immediately draws up a schedule down to the second of how to view all the displays at the event! They begin to visit the displays and are mostly amazed (the only complaint being Mei thinking the light displays are close to the level of "dazzling" as Hahari but not quite up to her level); but Nano stops the viewing as quickly as it starts, wanting to efficiently use their time to make as many memories as possible, which the others ultimately agree to. They visit several amazing displays in the scope of two minutes.

Eventually the trio stop for a toilet break (being the only restroom on their route); but by the time he leaves, Rentarou discovers Mei, whom he noticed had admiration for a previous display that he thinks she wanted to spend more time at from her expression; but she denies it stating "collective desires are her desires". Rentarou tells Mei to hold more value to her own feelings, but Mei is confused about how feelings can take precedence over granting others' desires. As Nano and Momoha return and the four continue their journey, Rentarou thinks things over, about Nano's desire to see as many displays as possible and Mei's submissive nature; he notes everyone is happy and that possibly his own thoughts are his own ego trying to work out if this is right, choosing to ultimately respect their wishes and not bring his own ego into the situation.

However as they seem to leave, Momoha decides she's tired and pulls out sake to drink. Nano looks at the watch and decides it's more efficient to split up; but Momoha asks if she was the one who wanted to see everything with everyone together, bringing back her ethics discussion about how "there's no one right answer" to a question; wondering about how the frustration of missing one display is balanced by the joy of seeing the other 150 and if seeing the display is "a goal" to some people and "a means" to others. Momoha approaches Nano and tells her that holding on to what's in the mind while tossing away what's in the heart is "putting the cart before the horse". Realizing the problems with efficiency with the light show, Nano apologizes, choosing making memories over seeing everything on display.

Momoha states they can take a detour from Nano's route and specifically asks Mei where she wants to go. Mei continues to state she'll go where everyone else wants to, stating that their happiness if what makes her happy and that witnessing those she cares for experiencing joy is what gives her joy. Momoha asks her to change her perspective and flip it around, wondering what would bring Mei happiness instead of what she wants of the others. Mei quizzically states her happiness is "a stone along the roadside", but Nano and Rentarou are happy to want to see Mei happy; thus making Momoha ask the question again to Mei.

The maid eventually guides Rentarou's group to a bright display where all the colors shining reflect the wonderful times they spend together. As they all stare at the massive display of lit flowers, everyone admires Mei's decision. While Momoha pulls out her sake bottle, Rentarou admires the ethic teacher's ability to understand alternating perspectives and the idea of understanding them in order to make better decisions; though they are all embarrassed by her public drinking regardless. Nano gains new appreciation of Momoha's efficiency in indulging in what matters, while Mei understands and appreciates the value of one's own feelings.

The next day at school, Kusuri is contemplating using a drug on everyone all at once while reading the ethics textbook before she's joined by Nano and Mei. Kusuri wonders why Nano wants to learn ethics over "government and economics", but she and Mei state they want to do so to understand others feelings. They both state they want to be more like Momoha someday, which the ethics teacher once again shoots down.
