The Lie Detecting Witch Trial (
Summary[]
Rentarou zings with Hahari, his 6th soulmate. Despite having felt the same impulse before with her previous lover, Hahari still goes love blind, as she mentioned previously, and blurts out a confession to Rentarou. Karane questions the sanity of Hahari but moves her concern over to Rentarou after he starts to stutter at her confession. She shouts at him for even considering that the relationship might work, which results in Hahari realising what she said and attempting to play it off as a joke.
Hahari regains her composure and reaffirms her standing of not accepting Rentarou and Hakari’s love. Rentarou though, continues to fight against her, saying that he’ll definitely bring Hakari happiness. Hahari, fed up with Rentarou’s sugar-coated words, brings out a specially ordered lie detector, in the shape of a chair, that can expose even the tiniest of lies. She plans to use the lie detector to expose Rentarou to Hakari and make them give up on each other. Rentarou states that the machine can’t be trusted as there is no proof its accurate, so Hahari suggests that Karane tests it, which she reluctantly agrees to.
She asks her what her cup size is, making Karane question her sanity once again. Hahari clarifies that if it’s not a question with an obvious truth or lie, then testing the machine would be meaningless. Karane says that she is a B cup on the border of a C, but the machine says she is lying. Hahari mentions again that the machine exposes even the tiniest of lies, causing Karane to correct her answer to a B. The machine states again that she is lying, causing her to punch the machine in anger whilst screaming that she’s a B on the border of an A, an answer which the machine accepts.
Hahari asks Karane another question, does she like Rentarou. She sits back down on the lie detector and says that she does like him, but the machine rejects her answer, saying that it’s a lie, causing Rentarou to faceplant into the floor. She tries to call the machine nonsense but after remembering what Hahari said earlier, tries several other answers. Only after saying that she “really, really, really, really, really loves him more than anything in the whole wide world” does the machine accept her answer.
With proof that the lie detector is trustworthy, Rentarou sits on it and accepts Hahari’s trial. Her plan to expose Rentarou backfires however as Rentarou instead proves his undying devotion to keeping Hakari happy by stating nothing but truths of his love. Hahari tries to play off her failed plan by saying that a lie detector is still a machine and cannot be truly trusted.
Without warning, a maid bursts into the room bringing terrible news, Hakari has threatened to jump out of a window. Karane takes advantage of the sudden confusion to run at Hahari and put her in a choke hold, threatening to snap her neck if anyone moves. She tells Rentarou to take this chance to go get Hakari and escape as far away as they can. He tries to fight against her suggestion, but she says that it should be obvious that she’ll wait forever for him to return. As Rentarou runs off, Hahari begins to struggle, prompting Karane to remind her of the threat she made earlier. She yells at her that she should go ahead and snap her neck and that Karane should never look down on a mother’s love. Karane uses this chance to yell back at Hahari, saying that she’s the one neglecting Hakari’s feelings and that she shouldn’t look down on the love between friends.
Hakari, stood on the ledge outside her window, tells the security guards near her not to approach. A ruckus begins at the entrance to her room, causing her to look behind her. Rentarou pushes his way through the guards and comforts Hakari, telling her that everything will be fine because he is here to get her.
