Even if it Costs Me my Life (この
Summary[]
Hakari says Rentarou’s name in surprise. He tells her that she doesn’t need to threaten to jump anymore, as her mother is being restrained by Karane, allowing them to leave the mansion. Hakari states that even if they do escape, her mother will chase them for as long as they live. As long as Hakari is alive, Rentarou will be shackled by herself and her mother forever. She can’t accept that Rentarou will live such a messed-up life filled with despair. Rentarou yells at her that if that is what she thinks, then she shouldn’t jump as he can’t imagine a life worse than not having her around. He promises that as long as Hakari is with him, no matter where they go, they’ll be happy. Rentarou boldly states his love for Hakari and asks her to spend the rest of her life with him. After some thought, and claiming that words like that is playing dirty, she accepts his proposal, saying that she loves him back and that she wants to be together forever.
Now that she’s calmed down, Hakari’s sense of fear returns, causing her to panic from balancing on the ledge. Before Rentarou can make it to the window though, her feet slip, and she falls off the ledge. Rentarou manages to grab her hand before she can fall, but he is unable to keep his footing in the position he is in. Hahari, still in a choke hold by Karane, makes it to the room to see Rentarou slipping out the window. Hakari tells Rentarou to let go or they’ll both fall, but he declares that he will never let go now that he’s finally caught her. Karane and Hahari sprint to try and grab Rentarou but he slips out the window with Hakari before they reach her. Now falling, Rentarou pulls Hakari tightly into him whilst promising to protect her. He kicks off the wall, aiming to land in the fountain that he saw on his way into the mansion.
Once the two of them land in the fountain, Nano, Kusuri and Shizuka rush out from hiding to help them out the fountain. Nano helps Hakari and Rentarou out whilst Kusuri helps Shizuka out as she jumped in the fountain forgetting she can’t swim. Whilst Nano resuscitates Shizuka, Rentarou pulls Hakari into a hug as he expresses his relief. Hahari and Karane sprint out of the mansion to check if the two of them are ok. Hahari falls to her knees after spotting the two of them while Karane angrily walks up to Hakari and slaps her round the face, calling her an idiot. This causes Hakari to begin crying and the two of them weep whilst leaning on Rentarou. Hahari asks Rentarou if he realised what would have happened if he didn’t land in the fountain, to which he says that he previously mentioned that he’d lay down his life to make Hakari happy.
Hahari realises that Rentarou meant every word he said when she spoke to him previously. She prostrates to him, telling him to take good care of Hakari. Rentarou knows that Hahari did what she did all for Hakari’s sake, even if it meant causing her daughter to hate her. He promises to bring happiness to the both of them, which confuses Hahari. Rentarou says that he wants to make Hahari happy, as well as Hakari, and that he wants to walk down this path with her so she can continue the happy life she dreamed about. Hahari asks if this is the answer to her confession that she blurted out earlier, which Rentarou says it is. Hakari, stunned at hearing that her mother confessed to her boyfriend, asks why and when she confessed to him. Hahari says that Rentarou is such a cutie pie as she pulls him her bosom, embarrassing him and causing the rest of his girlfriends to look on petrified. She invites them to stay at the mansion for the night as it’s already very late.
