Summary[]
Rentarou and his girlfriends are on the roof of the school eating lunch. Kusuri yells that she forgot her bento so Rentarou gives her his bento and runs off to the school store to get something for himself. At the store, he reaches for a fried egg on toast, but as he does so, someone else reaches for it as well. He turns to look at them and zings with them—his 7th soulmate. He notices that the girl he zinged with was from middle school side of Ohananomitsu and questions her about it, to which she rudely asks if he has a problem with it and demands for him to move his hand. She goes to pay but realises that she forgot her wallet, so walks off in a huff. Rentarou pays for it and offers to share it with her, an offer she originally refuses until her stomach rumbles loudly and she gives in.
The two sit on a bench in the courtyard where the soulmate says thank you for the food and starts to eat. She exclaims that the food tastes really good and Rentarou asks if it’s one of her favourites. She explains that the people sitting behind her were talking about Laputa and that she began to crave it. She also explains that her body digests food really fast and when she’s hungry she gets angry so she can’t do anything when she starts to crave something. She apologised to Rentaoru for being rude to him earlier which he brushes off as ok because she can’t help it. She then says that she wears her hoodie and headphones all the time because she can easily associate anything with food, like the name Yamazaki and bread. She says bye to Rentarou and leaves the bench. He tries to ask her for her name but her mood immediately turns sour and she calls him disgusting for trying to hit on her. As she leaves, Rentaoru’s soulmate blushes and questions why her heart is going crazy for Rentarou.
The next day, Rentarou’s soulmate heads to the middle school cafeteria to get a menchi-katsu sandwich because her classmates were talking about it, but find that they’ve all sold out. Rentarou then appears, making her question why he’s in the middle school side, to which he says there is no policy forbidding it, the same reasoning she used the day prior. He notices that she wanted a menchi-katsu sandwich and notes that they’re sold out on the high school side as well. He suggests that she eats a regular katsu sandwich as the two are similar but she snaps at him saying that the two aren’t even remotely similar. She declares that she’s going to head offsite to buy one and tries to leave but Rentarou grabs her, telling her that middle school students aren’t permitted to leave campus during break and offers to get one for her. She violently shoves him off of her, yelling at him, saying he's annoying, but shortly realises the way she’s acting and runs off.
Outside a 6 eleven, Rentarou’s soulmate comments how everywhere is sold out of menchi-katsu sandwiches. She lets out a scream, frustrated at herself for lashing out at others, evening those who are kind to her, and ending up alone. She walks back to school, where Rentarou is waiting for her at the school gates. She tries to question why he’s waiting for her, but he hurries her along to the school kitchen whilst there’s still time. Inside, he presents a menchi-katsu sandwich which he tells her to go ahead and eat. She takes a bite and expresses her delight for the meal. She asks where he got it from and he states that he made it himself as the ingredients are pretty much the same as a normal hamburger, explaining the bandages she saw on him when they met and the gate.
She asks Rentarou why he’s being so kind to her, even though she’s been rude to him, has no good qualities, and he doesn’t even know her name. Rentarou says that there are plenty of good things about her like the way she cherishes the food she eats with a look of pure bliss on her face and that eating with her makes food taste so much better because she savours it so much, words that cause her to blush.
She asks Rentarou if he would continue to eat with her as her boyfriend as she thinks the food would taste better together, which he agrees to. She reveals to him that her name is Haraga Kurumi. Rentarou then calls her Kurumi-chan, which makes her hungry for chanko nabe.
