Decisive Match! The Food Fight Festival! ( (けっ) (ちゃく) !フード ファイト フェスティバル! Ketchaku! Fūdo Faito Fesutibaru) is the twenty-seventh chapter of the 100 Kanojo manga.

Summary[]

Rentarou apologies to Kurumi on behalf of him and his girlfriends for not being able to fight in the finals, but Kurumi dismisses his apology, saying that she never planned on relying on them in the first place. The host announces that the final round of the food fight festival will be ramen, and the round begins.

Takeko and Kurumi quickly start devouring the ramen placed in front of them, described as "D*sons" by the host, while the leader of the Gorira Alliance falls behind. Her subordinates apologise to her for being unable to continue eating, but she thanks them instead for playing along with her stupid plan. The leader’s motivation to continue sparks the embers within her subordinates and they all join the competition again, as the rules permit it. The members of the Alliance, however, are soon carted away by an ambulance, as they pushed themselves too hard. It is now a one-on-one battle between Takeko and Kurumi.

As Takeko asks for his next bowl, the host comments on how both her and Kurumi’s expressions haven’t changed at all during the competition. It’s revealed that Takeko’s expression will never change and that she hasn’t actually eaten a single bowl of ramen. The skin covering half of Takeko’s face and throat is made of specialised makeup that hides a huge hose and tank strapped to her front. Whenever she puts food in her mouth, she pretends to chew it before spitting it out into the hose, so she never actually eats anything. The two continue eating for a while until Kurumi stops moving her chopsticks at bowl twenty-two because she is getting full. Takeko tells her that it was reckless for her to participate in every round and that it was the cause of her failure. Kurumi curses herself for not listening to Rentarou and putting her trust in the rest of his girlfriends.

Out of the blue, Rentarou and the others step into the competition to help. Kurumi questions why they’re joining in because she’s been so mean to them, but they all say that they’ve been fighting together the entire time. Kurumi remembers what the group said earlier, that they’ve been fighting with the power of love, and realises that the words they said are far from empty, as them fighting alongside her has made her want to continue fighting as well. Takeko comments that even with their entire group, they’ll never beat her. She begins to panic however as the tank strapped to her front begins to leak over, as she’s eaten too much food thanks to how much Rentarou’s family ate in the previous rounds; resulting in her having to rely on her own stomach for the rest of the competition.

With the round approaching the end, all of the contestants lay on the floor, struggling to eat even a single bite. The host comments that the teams are even on bowls, and that they both have a single bite of noodles left in their current bowls. Whoever finishes the final bite will win the competition. Kurumi scrambles over to her bowl and vows to finish her final bite so they can win, despite feeling like she’s going to puke if she ate any more. Before she can take the bite however, Rentarou grabs her shoulder and whispers a plan into her ear, promising that he’ll let her eat anything she wants if she goes through with it. As the countdown for the round hits zero, Takeko eats the final bite of her noodles and Kurumi feeds Rentarou her remaining noodles, while being very embarrassed. Rentarou manages to swallow the noodles while Takeko throws up, having eaten too much, crowning Rentarou’s family the winner of the competition. Takeko questions how Rentarou ate the last noodles as he should have reached his limit, but he explains that he’ll never throw up food one of his girlfriends fed him, even if it kills him.

Rentarou and his girlfriend’s receive their reward, gelato from a 3-star pâtissier. Kurumi apologies to the group for being rude to all of them, but they all disregard it, saying that she did nothing wrong. The group then all share their gelatos together. Kurumi calls Rentarou outside the venue after the event has finished and thanks him for inviting her to the tournament, as she feels like its helped her to grow closer to everyone. She remembers that during the finals, Rentarou said that she can eat anything she wanted. Rentarou asks if she wants some pears, as she mentioned it previously, but instead, Kurumi goes on her tippy toes and kisses Rentarou, taking him by surprise. She comments on the taste, saying that she might not hate it. Rentarou comments that he isn’t a pear, causing Kurumi to bluntly state that she wasn’t thinking about pears in the first place.
