Rentarou's Family vs. Kiraisugi's Athlete Corps (
Summary[]
Kiraisugi's mayor and his sinister strategems have Rentarou's Family cornered!? ...No, not quite.
The quad-city Athletics Meet continues with Kiraisugi beating Sukisugi by a few points:
- Balloon Swordfight: Kishika faces a fifth-ranked kendo swordswoman who states she is there to take her out but with Kishika stating it is only about ability, regardless of strategy. The swordswoman believes she is outside her range and will not lose to her, but another opponent attacks and defeats her with ease with an instant reaction! Kishika states her sword and chivalry keep being honed through her day-to-day life and her sword remains sharp even outside a bout or outside range as she defeats the other opponents and wins for Sukisugi. (though Kurumi and Nano think it's due to her constantly going between her two extremes of chivalrous and juvenile)
- Three-Legged Race: Kusuri and Chiyo go for Sukisugi; the Kiraisugi duo believe they'd have the advantage due to the mayor giving them a super-elastic cord to move as a unit with ease. Kusuri tries to push ahead of Chiyo but accidentally makes the middle-schooler trip, leading to Chiyo becoming so angry that Kusuri rushes to barely beat Kiraisugi.
- Giant Ball-Rolling Race: Mimimi and Momiji end up with a much bouncier ball than the others with the idea that if it leaves the ground, they could be penalized; Momiji immediately gropes it to get a feel for it but gets stuck to it; Mimimi tries to remove her but also gets stuck, and the beauty's smooth skin and slick hair keeps the ball on the ground and allows for it to roll to their victory; but the ball continues rolling out of control until Yamame stops it!
- Cavalry Battle: On the women's side, it eventually comes down to Kiraisugi and the Sukisugi combo of Karane with Hakari, Iku and Naddy her holders. Kiraisugi boasts their own "non-slick spray" holding them down; as Karane pushes against the Sukisugi leader, the other girls yell at her to let her strength and spirit drive them to victory! However though Iku and Naddy's words seem to push her, it is the sly comments of Hakari that make Karane angry enough to blow Kiraisugi away and win; with Karane telling Hakari off for her words at the end. On the men's side, Rentarou is joined by Mr. Yakuzen, Uncle Hiro and the father of the Sure-Thing Sisters; the quartet handle things well with Kusuri's father and Chiyo's father continuing to argue through it as the quartet make it to the final match with Kiraisugi. Rentarou has a problem holding back the Kiraisugi captain as Mr. Yakuzen and Uncle Hiro keep arguing until Rentarou yells at them that "love does not come from strength but it is love that gives strength". With all four members inspired by their beloveds, Rentarou performs a "Prominence Bomber" destroying Kiraisugi and winning for the Sukisugi men.
- Folk Dance: With little problem, the girls of Ohananomitsu dance with their closest partners (Mei/Iku, Yamame/Hakari, Shizuka/Nano, Karane/Ahko, Hahari/Kishika, Chiyo/Naddy, Kusuri/Yaku, Kurumi/Momiji, Mimimi/Meme, Uto/Shizuka, Hakari/Karane) giving them perfect victory and the lead! The men's division doesn't go as well with Mr. Yakuzen and Uncle Hiro still at it with one another.
Ultimately it comes down to one final event: The Nineteen-person Relay Race (in honor of this being the 19th meet). But by the end of the men's division, Kiraisugi easily wins giving them a one-point lead on Sukisugi once again. However before the women's race begins, all the participants on Sukisugi's side are suddenly drunk due to the tea prepared for the competition being spiked with "kids' beer"! (only drunk by anyone outside Rentarou's Family, who stuck with Mei's refreshments) The girls relent that with this purely physical like the earliest events in the tug-o-war and foot race, they don't have a chance and they did their best for the year and they've had a fun time working together as a team. But without warning, the team discovers Rentarou on the ground, in pain having pushed his body beyond his limits! Rentarou reveals he pushed himself due to the insults of Kiraisugi's mayor and wanted to win no matter what to prove his girlfriends wouldn't lose to scum like him, inspiring the girls. At the same time, the batons for the women's relay race are being treated with salad oil to make them slippery as a "just-in-case" for the race. Although the Kiraisugi mayor asks for only the Sukisugi baton to be sabotaged, all four ultimately are without any time to wipe them down!
As the race is prepared to begin, the Ohananomitsu girls step towards the track ready to win for their town...and for their boyfriend.
