Eira Kaho (火 (か) 保 (ほ) エイラ, Kaho Eira^?) is Rentarou's 24th girlfriend. She is a sophomore student at Ohananomitsu University.

Appearance

Eira has green eyes with yellow highlights. Her hair is long and pale grey, with one long tress flowing down the right side of her face. Eira usually does her hair up in a ponytail.

Due to her Brazilian descent, Eira has dark skin. She is about the same height as Rentarou, with a large bust, and a toned, athletic body.

Regular Attire

Eira is usually seen in her streetwear. Her usual outfit is a white crop-top with black trim, revealing her midriff, dark blue jeans with a white fabric belt tied on her right hip, and dark heeled boots. For accessories, Eira wears light-green hoop earrings, bangles on her left wrist, and silver dog tags.

Eira has also cut her right pant leg at the upper thigh for easier movement, revealing her entire right leg.

Personality

Eira is gallant in her speech and demeanor, and will not hesitate to come to the rescue of those that might need it. This includes defending people being bullied and helping others as needed.

She is fearless when it comes to facing dangerous situations, and will face down anything she can defeat with a physical attack. Conversely, Eira is deathly afraid of things that she cannot defeat with a physical attack, such as things too small to hit (like insects), things she can accidentally damage or hurt (like babies or pets), or intangible objects (such as lightning, thunder, and emotions).

Eira is also diligent in thinking about her life choices and decisions, and gives much thought to her career prospects once she graduates college. She has taken her parents' advice to heart, to learn more about the world before deciding what she wants to do in the future.

Abilities

Peak Physical Condition

Due to undergoing regular physical training at a young age, Eira is in peak human condition. She has above average physical strength, speed, and endurance, which she uses in heroic actions such as protecting others from being bullied, or rescuing others from dangerous situations. She is strong enough to stop a heavy bulldozer with a single kick.

Martial Arts

Eira practices capoeira, a Brazilian martial art which combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. She learned the art from her father, a capoeira instructor who runs his own dojo. Eira uses her skills to protect herself and other member of Rentarou's Family from danger, and is skilled enough to spar with Kishika Torotoro (a skilled swordswoman in her own right) to a standstill. Eira is also able to use her martial arts mastery in dancing, performing a capoeira-inspired routine during an idol performance at a local town event.

History

Eira first debuts in Chapter 132, being hit on by several men while on the train. When Rentarou attempts to stop the men from hitting on her, one of them grabs him by the shirt. Eira then defends him from the men using her martial arts skills, before thanking him for intervening. They "zing", and Rentarou invites her out for a drink.

Eira shares that she is a sophomore at Ohananomitsu University, and has been practicing capoeira from a young age, making men like the ones who were hitting on her not a threat at all. However, when a ladybug lands on her drink cup, she cowers away from it, revealing that she is afraid of things she cannot strike or defeat with a physical attack. Eira shares this also extends to things which can get injured or damaged easily (such as small animals and babies), or intangible things (such as sickness and lightning). When a storm hits the park the couple are in, Rentarou suggests they wait out the storm in a nearby playhouse.

Inside, Rentarou holds her hand when she gets startled by lightning. Eira then confesses her love to Rentarou, before realizing dating him might be odd due to their age gap - and that she can't kick heartbreak, leading her to cover her ears so she doesn't have to hear his answer. Rentarou then kisses her to show he reciprocates her feelings, and she becomes his 24th girlfriend. As proof of his love, Rentarou says he'll learn "special attacks", to make up for her weakness.

Relationships

Mei Meido

Of all the girlfriends in Rentarou's Family, Mei is the closest to Eira in age. Eira used to address her formally, since she felt that Mei was more akin to a working adult. Eira feels that Mei is cool, due to the latter's devotion to Hahari and never doubting or hesitating in whatever she wants to do, compared to herself. Conversely, Mei respects Eira's diligence and thoughtfulness in deciding what to do in her life. Both of them visited a spa together, and have only grown closer since. Mei first felt the desire to tease a friend when paired with Eira on a theme park ride.

Etymology

Eira's full name is a pun on the word "capoeira" (カポエイラ), but removing the handakuten from ポ (po) to turn it to ホ (ho)

• Eira has kissed and been kissed by Rentarou at least 5 times as of Chapter 184.
• Eira is the first of Rentarou's girlfriends who is not of pure Japanese ancestry.
• Eira is the first character whose birthday was revealed in the series.
  • This led to every other girlfriend (at the time of her introduction) and Rentarou having their birthdays revealed.
  • Eira's birthday, August 3rd, commemorates Dia do Capoeirista (Capoeirista Day). Celebrated officially in São Paulo and unofficially in other parts of Brazil, it honors capoeira practitioners and highlights the martial art's enduring cultural significance.
