The First Kiss (はじめてのチュウ Hajimete no Chū) is the second chapter of the 100 Kanojo manga.

Summary

Having started dating both Hakari and Karane, Rentarou walks hand in hand with both of them to school. Upon reaching school, an unnamed student is being chased by the vice principal, who administers deep kissing as a form of mental punishment to students who break the school regulations. This prompts Hakari to ask Rentarou if he’s ever kissed someone before, to which he claims he hasn’t. This begins a chapter long rivalry between the two girls for who can claim the title of Rentarou’s first kiss.

The two try many different ways but ultimately fail to kiss Rentarou before he realises what they’ve been attempting the entire time. Rentarou reveals that he had anticipated this situation and came up with a plan the night before. His plan was to anonymize who got the first kiss by blindfolding and deafening the three of them (through headphones and earbuds) and mixing up everyone, so no one knew who kissed Rentarou first. However, this plan also fails as he either manages to identify which girl he’s about to kiss or the environment causes one of the girls to panic.

Frustrated at himself for being an unreliable boyfriend, Rentarou runs off the roof and into the halls of the school, where he shouts for the Vice Principal so she can take his first kiss instead. The plan would have worked had Karane not strangled the VP as she tries to kiss Rentarou, and Hakari faking calling a member of the board of education. Hakari questions him as to why he did what he did, to which he says that he wants the two of them to get along and that his first kiss is a seed of conflict, which means it’s better off being thrown away. The two claim that they would rather that the other got Rentarou’s first kiss instead of it being thrown away. This prompts him to suggest his other plan which is to have the 3 of them kiss at the same time. This three-way kiss is ultimately what settles the rivalry for Rentarou’s first kiss.

• As the group are figuring out how to dish out Rentarou's first kiss, he suggests listening to a song named "Hajimete No Chuu", which translates to "First Kiss". The song is the opening theme to 1988 anime Kiteretsu Daihyakka.
• The ending quote for this chapter is a reference to a famous chant used to summon a UFO in Japan, just with the words "space" replaced with the words "love".
