| —Mai Meido to Rentarou Aijou at Chapter 101 | ||
Mai Meido (
Appearance[]
Mai has light brown ombre hair that fades to a darker shade near the tips. Her hair is styled in a bob cut, partially braided and held in place with a jewel hair accessory. Her eye color is dark brown, similar to the darker shades of her hair. She wears a maid outfit identical to Mei's.
Mai wears her hair shorter to match Mei's hair and applies mascara to match her long eyelashes.[2]
Personality[]
Much like her sister's loyalty for Hahari Hanazono, Mai is absolutely dedicated to Mei, often getting lost in thought while admiring her. Mai takes great pride in being close to Mei, often bragging about being her little sister. Her dedication is so strong that she initially resents Rentarou for being a threat that may take Mei away from her. Despite her hard exterior, Rentarou always makes her fall for him, often seeing everything in a flowery filter.
Unlike Mei, Mai is very clumsy, consistently slipping and tripping over things, although she is often caught by Mei before she can get hurt.
Mai appears to have girlish tastes, and enjoys shoujo manga, romantic novels, and medieval European fairytales. She is also easily lovestruck when someone either looks or acts in way that is princely, knightly, or in-line with shoujo mangas.
Abilities[]
Household Chores[]
Mai's clumsiness extends beyond household chores; she is prone to slipping and tripping, which can lead to accidents. Mei often intervenes to prevent her from getting hurt during these incidents.
History[]
Mai is the granddaughter of the former chief-maid of the Hanazono Household. She was brought to visit the estate when she was very young and was immediately enamored upon seeing Mei working. This inspired her to want to become a maid as well, so she would assist with Mei's duties when she had time outside of her schooling. After graduating junior high, Mai became a live-in maid for the Hanazono Household.
While her official debut was in Chapter 101, Mai made small appearances in Chapters 31, 49, 66 and 78. And also, she partially appeared on Chapter 28's cover page but without face.
Relationships[]
Rentarou Aijou[]
At first, Mai hated Rentarou for taking Mei, her dearest older sister, from her. After feeling the soulmate shock when she slipped, Mai looks at Rentarou as a handsome prince which makes her blush and cannot stop imagining his handsome face up close.
Mei Meido[]
Mai has a sister complex[3] to Mei (although they are not blood-related), whom she always admired and was inspired by her to become a maid. Mei always takes care of Mai when she is in trouble (such as slipping and falling).
Momoha Bonnouji[]
Momoha sees Mai as her older sister, but Mai doesn't recognize it and only recognizes Mei as her dearest older sister.
