Suu Hifumi (一 (ひ) 二 (ふ) 三 (み) 数 (すう) , Hifumi Sū^?) is Rentarou's 23rd girlfriend. She is a first year student at Ohananomitsu High School in Class 1-1.

Appearance

Suu has sky blue eyes, and short blue-silver hair with stripes. Despite her age, Suu is also one of the shortest members of Rentarou's Family.

School Uniform

Suu's look includes a light turquoise jersey top with 2 white stripes on each arm and an O-shaped zipper, along with round-framed glasses. The only piece of the Ohananomitsu High School uniform she wears is the skirt. Beneath the jersey and skirt, Suu wears a black compression top and tights, and she usually pairs it with a black tracksuit with white stripes, and dark high-top slip-on shoes.

Personality

Suu is a numerophile. She compares her love for numbers to how people can be in love with others of the opposite sex or the same sex.

In a similar way to Rentarou, who equally loves all of his girlfriends, she equally loves all of the numbers, and loves to describe the qualities of each number, like 1's sleek & trim form, 2's contrast between the curve and the line, 3's dip and shapely mounds, 4's wonderfully sharp corners, and so on.

Despite being in love with the numbers, she's very bad at math, this is because she thinks that each number has its own identity and feels that humans strip off their identities to turn them into things (like turning 1 plus 1 into 2 instead of 11, according to her, the latter respects the identity of the number 1). Every time she studies math, she feels like throwing up.

Suu's obsession with purely numbers is so strong, that she does not care for anything else(except a select few). She treats anything that does not involve numbers coldly. This has led to her becoming oblivious to certain pieces of common knowledge, such as her not knowing that seawater is too salty to safely drink.

Love of Numbers

Due to her love of numbers she can memorize anything numerical including the prices of goods or the birthdays of all of the members of Rentarou's Family upon being spoken once. However this is merely about numbers; she is known to be terrible at math and nearly was forced to repeat the grade due to her terrible math test scores.

History

Since her childhood, Suu was in love with all the numbers, and always wanted to become them, however she could only become up to 9.

She met Rentarou after accidentally bumping into him inside Ohananomitsu High School. She then helps Rentarou pick up the poker cards that he accidentally dropped as a result of their collision. She, however, leaves behind all the cards without numbers (the Aces, Kings, Queens, and Joker). This was because her lack of interest regarding things unrelated to numbers.

She then explains Rentarou why she loves numbers and how important they're to her, thanks to this, Rentarou sees that she loves numbers the same way he loves his girlfriends, as she also doesn't really have any favorite numbers, loving all of them equally, and that she loves all the looks the numbers can get (Roman, Arabic, Kanji), similar to how Rentarou loves the different looks of his girlfriends.

After this conversation, she tells Rentarou that she's only in love with numbers, so she's not interested in him; however, she actually has feelings towards him. While thinking about this, Rentarou appears wearing a full black body suit, and tells her that if she can only love numbers, then he'll become numbers for her.

He then starts doing different poses that recreate the numbers from 0 to 9, to then show her that together, they can become 10 and more, even getting up to 20. Because of this, Suu asks if he will go out with her and Rentarou accepts and tells her to not worry about her love of numbers, as she can equally love both numbers and him. The next day, Rentarou introduces Suu to his other girlfriends, officially making her his 23rd girlfriend.

Etymology

• Hifumi(一二三) is a pun based on Goroawase wordplay system with numbers.

• Suu(数) is the Onyomi reading for the word "number" (数)(kazu)

Trivia

• Suu has kissed and been kissed by Rentarou at least 12 times as of Chapter 181.
• Suu, alongside with Karane, Kurumi, Kusuri, Kishika, and Rentarou are often referred to as the tsukkomi/straight man of the group. But due to her poor math skills, Suu acts as the boke/funny man.
• Suu's birthday is on January 23rd, which mirrors her name, 1/23.
• After the entire cast's birthdays are revealed in Chapter 133, Suu is using the extra pages starting from Volume 17 to announce the birthday date for all new subsequent girlfriends (except Saki whose birthday date has been revealed on Chapter 187 and only announces the chapter, page, and panel as the reference due to her numerophilia on Chapter 194.5).
